The Heritage of the Historical Archive

The Historical Archive of the Museum preserves a substantial heritage that today has more than 200 funds related to military history and political, technological, economic and cultural phenomena related to war events from the modern age to the twenty-first century.

The archival funds of people, families, associations and committees of military units are kept in the Archive.
They include documents, iconographic and cartographic material such as maps, audio recordings and memorabilia, which add to the already rich heritage of photographs and audiovisuals, books and publications.

In addition, the archive preserves over 200 films, numerous collections of printed material and manuscripts, including important testimonies of popular writing of local, national and international interest that have been collected in collaboration with the Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino.

The Museum Archive is an important point of support for the realisation of exhibitions, technical and specialised studies, historical research related to military history in its various aspects and has been declared historical interest with determination of the Superintendence for Book and Archival Heritage of the Autonomous Province of Trento n. 7 of 14 February 2005.
