The Heritage of the Photographic Archive

The Museum preserves a heritage that includes more than 100,000 images, mostly related to the two World Wars and the Italian Colonial Wars.
Photographs and negatives on film and glass are sorted into archival funds (over 200, corresponding to a total of 580 albums) according to the principle of provenance and, where it has not been possible to trace their origin, according to a thematic or topographical criterion.
The collections have been formed since the foundation of the Museum in 1921, thanks to donations and acquisitions and continue to grow.
