Images and documents available online

Some of the photographic and archival collections that form part of the Museum’s rich heritage can be consulted online on the archivimuseodellaguerra.archiui.com platform. Researchers and enthusiasts can navigate the digital collections and discover a selection of photographs and documents.

The portal, created by Archiui for the Museum, is constantly updated and also contains brief insights on the digitised collections and donations that the Museum receives. On the site, it is possible to carry out archival searches, browsing the inventories of the Museum’s holdings, or more simply search using keywords.

The Museum has recently undertaken the digitisation of its archives thanks to the support of the Soprintendenza per i beni culturali della Provincia Autonoma di Trento and the Comunità della Vallagarina. The reorganisation and enhancement of the holdings was also made possible through the contributions of the Fondazione Caritro and Bim Adige.

The Museum’s photographic archive holds more than 100,000 images, mostly dedicated to the two world wars and the Italian Colonial Wars.

Some of the most significant photographic archives are already fully accessible, including the collections of Maurizio Rava, Aldo Finzi, Andrea Graziani, Gilbert de Wickels, Giuseppe Chini and Guglielmo Pecori Giraldi.

An initial selection of posters and maps and a vast collection of religious press produced during the two world wars (prayer cards, memorial cards, postcards, prayer booklets) have been digitized from the Historical Archive. The Archive holds over 200 collections relating to the history of warfare between the Modern Era and the 21st century. In particular, the important Francesco Monterumisi collection can be consulted in its entirety.
